Description
A letter and postcard/photograph written by a French schoolgirl, Marthe Prouharam, to an Australian schoolgirl, Amy Foster (later Saunderson). The letter describes her fear of the war, the Germans arriving in Steenvoorde (8/10/1914), looting the shops and burning farms, the begining of the battle between the Germans and the allies, her family hiding in their cellar, and after five days the Germans being driven out of the town.
