Description
Diary kept by Corporal Keating, Military Staff Clerk for 13th Australian Infantry Brigade Headquarters. Detailed account of daily life, including bombardments, lice,conditions of dugouts, air battles, observation balloons, swimming in the Somme, and leave in England, Ireland and Scotland. Mentions accommodation and battles at many places along the Front, including Ypres-Comines Canal, Corbie, Querrieu, and Villers Bretonnneaux. Good account of German advance in April, and the Allied offensive in August. Describes return to London after end of war for duty with Demobilisation staff, Transport Section, "Q" Registry.
