Description
Diaries of 5562 Private (Pte) Frank Sydney Royston Shoobridge, stretcher bearer with 2nd Field Ambulance, AAMC, spanning July 1916 to December 1917. Opens with graphic account of duties during battle at Pozieres, and being wounded and gassed while retrieving wounded soldiers. Mentions convalesence, cold and rain, loss of voice for almost 3 months, receiving `Tasmanian Mail', billiards, sports, leave in England, Ypres, bombings by German planes and anti- aircraft fire, and mending duck walks. Illustrates danger faced by stretcher bearers.
