Wilson, Edward Reynardson (Private b.1896 - d.1986)
Description
Copies of letters to Wilson's family, spanning the commencement of his First World war service at Claremont Camp in Tasmania through to training at Salisbury Plain, leave in London, active service in France, and repatriation following a period of quarantine at Bruny Island. Letters mention air raids over London, being wounded at Mont St Quentin, the impending armistice and the ensuing celebrations. They say little about training or fighting. One letter from Wilson's brother Chris, to his parents, discusses postponing studies in order to enlist and reasons for going to the war.
