Description
Diary for 1917 (and typescript transcription) and other papers of No. 25467 Driver Lewis Wilson (102nd Battery, 2nd Field Artillery Brigade). The diary's short daily entries describe Wilson's training in England before crossing to France in March 1917 and experiencing battle action in front of Bapaume (Bullecourt, Fremicourt, Lagnicourt) (April-May) and later participated in the fighting around Ypres, Belgium (when he was based in the Ouderdom and Dichebusch area) (September-October). His duties included tending horses, maintaining transport equipment and transporting ammunition and guns to his battery during battle action. Also includes discharge and service papers, and printed material.
