Still, Harry Andrew (Corporal, b.1897 - d.1966)
Bound typescript memoirs (and original manuscript drafts) of No 802 Corporal Harry Andrew Still (31st Battalion) of Bendigo, Victoria describing his First World War service. After training at Broadmeadows, he travelled to Egypt on the SS Wandilla (A62), and underwent further training at Heliopolis and Serapeum. He crossed to France in June 1916, and his memoirs describe him going into the front line in the Armentieres area, initially at Bois Grenier, and then participating in raids on the German trench lines near Fleurbaix, during which he was injured by shrapnel and captured. They then describe his experiences in German POW camps at Dulmen, Minden, Soltan and Halmen before he was released to Holland in June 1918. One item includes copies of letters to his parents dated December 1915. Includes photographs and a POW identity card.
