Description
This collection consists of a diary and typescript memoirs compiled by 2605 Private Arnold F.H. Caust. The personal diary kept by Caust throughout 1918 mainly relates to his impressions of Britain and France, especially service life with the 10th Battalion in France. The typescript, "Memoirs of Arnold Caust" (29 pages), describes Caust's Army career, from enlistment in 1915 to end of war in 1918, including active duty, training, hospitalisation and recreation leave in Egypt, England, Scotland and France. Caust served with the 10th Battalion throughout the war. The memoirs also include a brief final description of Caust's post-war career of playing football during the 1920s in South Australia.
