Kitchin Kerr, George Ernest (Corporal, b.1892 - d.1965)
Description
Photocopy of a typescript transcript of diaries kept by Corporal George Kitchin Kerr, `C' Company, 14th Battalion, while a prisoner of war (POW) of the Turkish Army during the First World War. The transcript is contained in 132 pages and has been transcribed from the original diaries kept in shorthand between November 1915 and February 1917. Corporal Kerr was wounded and captured on Gallipoli and spent the remaining years of the war as a clerk at the Belemedik prison camp working for the Baghdad Railway Construction Company.
