Description
Diary associated with the military service of naval officer Frederick William Walton, who served on HMAS Parramatta during the First World War. Walton records detailed entries for the period of March 1918-September 1919 during the last several months of Adriatic operations for HMAS Parramatta at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli and Imbros before returning to the Dardanelles. Other entries describe sailing for despatches and mails between Sebastopol and Constantinople and in 1919 joining HMAS Swan and HMAS Torrens in Malta. Also included in the collection is a postcard of HMAS Tingira with a brief message from Walton to his family.
