Ridley, John Gotch MC (Lieutenant, b.1896 - d.1976)
A typed manuscript written by Lieutenant Ridley titled "My experiences in the charge of the 53rd Battalion, 19 July 1916 at Armentieres". Other items in the collection include typed transcripts of several personal letters and a handwritten transcript of a letter from Field Marshal Birdwood to Ridley in 1918. Ridley was awarded a Military Cross for action near Bullicourt in 1918. Items in this collection have been published in a book titled 'Born to be a soldier: war diary of Lieutenant John Gotch Ridley MC, World War 1, 1914-18', compiled and edited by Jean Kelshaw and Bruce Thornton, published in 2010 by The Baptist Historical Society of NSW.
