Description

Alexander Neil Black under the name of "Aries" tells of the battalion's first experiences of the jungle, without maps in unknown hilly terrain; climbing the Golden Stairway; incidents at Ioribaiwa and Imita and the tactics of Brigadier Kenneth Eather which stopped the Japanese advance at Imita Ridge and proved they were not invincible; food drops; assistance of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels; and admiration for the godly Church of England Padre, Donald Redding who lost 32 kilos during their gruelling ordeal.
