Description

Collection of 4061 Sergeant Stanley McDougall, VC, MM, 48th Battalion relating to his service in the First World War and post war life. A scrapbook contains a range of material, 1917-1965, relating to McDougall and his VC and also to the Queen's visit to Australia in 1956. It has newspaper cuttings, invitations and tickets to functions, including at Buckingham Palace, greeting cards, a document signed by the Queen, souvenir programs and menus, including one signed by ten Australian VC recipients, and photographs. Also in the collection are a New Testament, service documents, souvenir material and a sprig of boronia given to McDougall to wear on ANZAC Day service.
