Collection relating to the Second World War and Korean War service of O335 Group Captain Dixie Robison Chapman, 77 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, Australia, Middle East, the United Kingdom, Korea, and United States of America, 1939-1962.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one flying log book of Group Captain Chapman, with entries dated between 21 April 1939 and 28 December 1962. The log book is contained within a green leather cover. It encompasses the period of his flying instruction duties in Victoria, service in the Middle East, transport duties in Western Australia, service in Korea, and post-war service. The entries record details such as dates and times of flights, aircraft types and numbers, crewmembers, and purposes of flights. Some of the purposes of flights include flying instruction of cadets, new aircraft tests, aircraft pupil tests, formation flying practice, bombing practice, cooperation exercises with the Army and Navy, operational flights in the Middle East, search and rescue, aircraft conversion, and passenger transport. This log book also contains documents, including one half yearly return of flying hours, two flying test reports, one officer’s confidential report, one set of notes relating to flying times, two loose log book pages, and three climb and descent tables.
