Description
Collection relating to 421484 Warrant Officer Arthur Roland Williams, 159 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force. Contains a series of correspondence to family members written between 1942 and 1946, related ephemera, and Williams' Observer's and Air Gunner's Flying Log Book. WO Williams enlisted in the RAAF on 1 February 1942 and soon embarked for Canada to train as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner under the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS). WO Williams was killed in a flying battle on 31 January 1945 when aircraft BZ938 'Wottawitch' was shot down off the coast of Burma.
