Vogan, Arthur Henry (Lieutenant, b.1889 - d.1917)
Collection relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Arthur Henry Vogan, 55 Battalion. Collection consists of a diary; three training certificates pertaining to specific qualifications attained in signal duties; a newspaper clipping 'Battalion colours laid up' from the Sydney Morning Herald dated 20/07/1953; and three different extracts from the Commonwealth Gazettes. The diary contains daily notes from 22/11/1915 through to 27/06/1916, and contains information pertaining to embarkation, camp life and training in Egypt, and departure for France. The three extracts from the Commonwealth Gazettes cover the conflict and operations in the Dardanelles, and are numbered 670/1915, 44/1916 and 126/1916 respectively. Lt Vogan did not survive the war and died of wounds in France on 04/02/1917.
