Description

Collection relating to the First and Second World War service of Honorary Captain John Tolson Massey OBE with the YMCA. Collection includes certificates of appreciation for Massey's war work while attached to the 4th Australian Division in France. Also included are certificates and papers relating to his award of the MBE and MID for service with allied forces in the Middle East while he was serving with the British YMCA in North Africa, 1941-1943; as well as a YMCA hut takings book (France) for the 4th Australian Division May 1917 to July 1918 and a Letter of Introduction as organiser of the Australian Citizenship Convention, 1950. Massey was recognised for both his work during the conflicts and his later community service work which continued on after the wars.
