Collection relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant George Shaw, 28 Battalion, AIF.

Wallet 1 of 1 - Collection consists of copies of letters and papers detailing Lieutenant Shaw's experiences at Gallipoli, particularly the events leading up the evacuation of the peninsula in December 1915. Many of the later letters recount in detail his return visits to Gallipoli and his reflections whilst visiting familiar places, such as Russell's Top. Also included are several transcripts from ABC Television interviews with Lieutenant Shaw. The letters and papers date from between 1915 and 7 February 1979, the date the copies were made is unknown. Shaw later served in the Second World War.
