Smith, Laurence Henry (Lieutenant SQN, AFC, b.1896 - d.1982)
Description
Correspondence related to the shooting down and later prisoner of war experiences of Lieutenant Smith, first with the members of 304B flight and later the Turks. Lieutenant Smith later wrote up his memoirs accounting for this good treatment by the Germans in hiding him from the Turks. He maintained this close contact with his protectors for the next 50 years.
