Description

Black and white photocopies of 8 letters written by Edward John 'Ted' Gaynor from Gallipoli during 1915, to his nephew Bernard. Some are copies of original handwritten letters, and others are copies of typed transcripts of the letters. The content of the letters relates to daily activities on the Gallipoli Peninsula, and includes a Turkish prisoner's description of the Armenian massacres. Collection also includes a black and white photocopy of one original handwritten letter dated 26 November 1917 and sent from France, to 'Mrs Godfrey' offering condolences following the death of Captain Thomas Godfrey, MC, at Broodseinde. The name of the letter writer is not clear but has been signed 'Matthew Stu...' (last few letters of name unclear).
