Corbould, William Westman (Gunner, b.1899 - d.1970)
Collection relating to the First World War service of 38329 Gunner William Westman Corbould, 4 Divisional Ammunition Column, AIF, England and France. Collection consists of two original handwritten diaries covering November 1917 to December 1918, and handwritten notes regarding his return to Australia at the end of the war. A bound typescript of these items is also included. The diaries consists of regular entries regarding his journey to England aboard HMT Canberra, camp life and leave in London, transfer to France, duties with an ammunition dump, cessation of hostilities, movement of occupation forces, his return to Australia aboard HMT Suevic and amusements onboard, and comments about the YMCA and Australian Comforts Fund. Additional items consists of: five newspaper cuttings, a souvenir from Westminster Abby, and a signed souvenir from HMT Canberra.
