Smith, Darcy Benedict
Description
Collection of 2 items relating to 2740 Private (Pte) Darcy Benedict Smith, 55th Battalion AIF, who died of illness (inflamation of the pancreas) at Salisbury Isolation Hospital, Salisbury on 26 October 1917. Comprises a King's Scroll that would have been sent to Pte Smith's next-of-kin after his death, and a presentation wallet containing a photograph of Pte Smith's original grave in Stratford-sub-Castle Churchyard, Salisbury, England. The third item in the collection is a postcard with a picture of Palestine on the front, dated May 8th 1918, written to 'Girlie' from 'Your loving Chappie'. The writer of the postcard is not known, nor their relationship to Smith.
