Rose, Geoffrey Vaughan (Warrant Officer b.1895 - d.1949)
Papers relating to the service of 4399 Geoffrey Vaughan Rose, with the 30th Battalion in the First World War and the Volunteer Defence Corps in the Second World War. The WW1 papers comprise a diary, describing his life in the Army and on leave in France and the United Kingdom, including excursions and time spent with relatives; letters and postcards from Rose to his family and friends, 1917-1920, which cover similar topics to the diary; personal and service papers (including a will); a poem, photographs (including one of Rose), a watercolour and newsclippings. The WW2 material includes a signalling lecture book, a platoon roll book and attendance record for 10 Battalion, Volunteer Defence Coprs (VDC). See also MSS1128, a bound typed manuscript titled "Three Years and a Day", a memoir by Rose of his WW1 experiences based on his personal diary.
