Description

Collection relating to the Second World War service of WX259 Lieutenant Kenneth Tebbet Johnson, 2/11 Infantry Battalion. Collection consists of a 'wartime log', issued to Johnson, while he was a prisoner of war, in Oflag VIIB in Germany. The log contains many black and white photographs of family and friends, some of which have been individually accessioned from P01308.001 to P01308.008. Some of the photographs have been taken inside the camp. The log also contains many names and addresses, plus a short account of his time since the declaration of war in 1939, training in 1940, Tobruk, Greece, his capture in Crete and journey through Europe to a prisoner of war camp in Germany in 1941, through to his liberation in 1945. The back of the log contains some letters, telegrams, souvenirs, and newscuttings which have been pasted in.

Other items include two paybooks in original wallet, a record of service book, a German 'wounded' tag, and German identification card.
