Cunningham, Charles S, (Major)
Records collected by Major Cunningham during his service as Director of Postal Services, Cairo 1915-1917. Item (1) diary with correspondence and notes relating to his files concerns the administration of the postal service and the personalities and problems in Cairo. Item (2) and (3) files of correspondence and clippings kept by Cunningham concern complaints about the burning and non receipt of letters, the transmission of parcels, appreciative correspondence, historical matters and records largely relating to the inquiry into the Army mail system. Item (4) cables sent to Cunningham by General Monash. Item (5) photograph album includes photographs of the Australian Base Post Office and staff at Cairo. Item (6) news clippings relating to the mail system 1894 to 1917.
