Description

This file contains letters sent and received by Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood between 19 November 1915 and 27 December 1915. The file was originally held by Major Wagstaff and includes letters to and from General Davies, General Godley, and General Byng about preparations and the outcome of the evacuation from Gallipoli. The file also includes correspondence with General Headquarters, Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, regarding a reported conference with Rear Admiral Wemyss without the approval of the Commander in Chief.
