Description

Letters relating to First World War service of Major (later Lieutenant Colonel) Frederick Lawrence Wall MC, Australian Army Medical Corps. These letters are from Wall to his parents, written between 1915 and 1918. In them, he writes about arriving at Gallipoli, and the adjustment from being 'scared' by the constant rain of bullets, to accepting them as part of life. He describes in some detail the differences between the Australian and British men, particularly their dialect. He also describes the Advanced Field Dressing Station at which he worked at Gallipoli, and a Regimental Aid Post in Pozieres.
