DescriptionLetters relating to the First World War service of 843 Battery Sergeant Major Norman Griffiths Ellsworth, 102nd Howitzer Battery, 2nd Field Artillery Brigade. The letters were written by Norman Ellsworth to his family between 12 January to 23 July 1917. In these letters, Ellsworth describes his training in England, the situation at the front in France, the effect of gas warfare, his duties as Battery Sergeant Major and comments on the conscription plebiscite in Australia.
