Description

Transcript of a diary relating to the First World War service of 1764 Private John Kingsley Gammage, 1st Battalion. The original diary was kept by Gammage while on Gallipoli, covering the period April 1915, when he departed Sydney, to February 1916 when he returned to Egypt. The diary graphically details the conditions on Gallipoli; the conflict, particularly the Battle of Lone Pine where he was wounded; the Australian evacuation and return to Cairo. A list of place names relating to the conflict ends the diary.
