Diary of Frederick Warren Muir, 1915
Description
Diary relating to the First World War service of 644 Private Frederick Warren Muir, 1st Battalion. The diary was kept by Private Muir from 31 March to 20 November 1915 and contains short entries relating to his service at Gallipoli. Private Muir's entry for the 25 April provides a detailed description of the Landing at Gallipoli, in which he recalls that the "...air was filled with the fleecy puffs of smoke peculiar to shrapnel...we fixed bayonets and prepared for a last stand. But the Turks refused to advance to within bayonet distance".
