Description

This series contains a variety of ephemera collected by Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood and his family between 1915 and 1930. Included in this series are postage stamps, menus, programs, Christmas cards and maps. Amongst the content are several items related to the organisation and itinerary of Birdwood’s visits to Australia and parts of New Zealand during 1919-1920. There are also souvenirs related to the opening of First World War memorials both in Australia and in the UK, as well as Anzac Day services, and a small number of poems. These are in addition to the poems and other literary pieces located in 3DRL/3376 File 14/2. Also contained in this series is a ledger maintained by Birdwood as an index to correspondence sent and received.
