Description

File of papers relating to the First World War service of Major General John Monash, 3rd Australian Division. This file, originally part of Book 15, covers 10 June 1917 to 31 July 1917 and includes documents relating to the aftermath of the Messines Offensive and the beginning of the Battle of Passchendaele. It also includes casualty lists, advice on burials, congratulatory messages exchanged between brigades and Division HQ, a detailed account of the Messines Offensive by the Intelligence Corps, a report by Captain Albert Jacka on the cooperation of tanks during an attack on the Hindenburg Line, and a letter and notes relating to the relief of command of Brigadier General Jobson, in which Monash states his actions are born of 'utmost regard'.
