Letters and Newspaper clippings relating to Percy William Woods, 1915-1937
File relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Colonel Percy William Woods, 55th Infantry Battalion. This file of material includes a letter from Woods as well as newspaper cuttings relating to his death in 1937. The letter details the situation at Gallipoli and includes an account of the Battle of Lone Pine which he participated in whilst serving with 3rd Battalion. Woods commends the character of the Turkish troops and the quality of their trenches. He also details being mentioned in despatches due to his conduct at Lone Pine. Woods died on 5 January 1937 and the newspaper clippings are of his death and funeral notices.
