Description
Letters relating to the First World War service of Sergeant Hugh Barr, 44th Battalion. In these letters to his mother Barr writes of: the strain the 44th Battalion had been under in the Ypres sector; dealing with high casualties and incessant mud; his promotion to corporal; that we will be sending more money home; concern for his family and that there are not many “old boys” left in the battalion.
