Letters relating to the service, during the First World War, of Sister Florence Narrelle Jessie Hobbes, Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve. In these letters written between 5 May 1915-7 July 1917, Hobbes corresponds with her family. She details her feelings regarding the war, her emotions regarding the men she treats and her nursing work. Throughout Hobbes talks of Australian social and political topics including conscription, farming and strikes. Hobbes writes about the people she works with, frequently mentioning the differences between the British and Australians, the locals and the landscapes of the countries she serves in.
