Outline map of Australia (without Tasmania) cut from a section of German aluminium water bottle. The following words have been hand engraved into the map: 'SOUVENIR OF FRANCE', and, in cursive text: 'Dear Grace, Just a note on a German Water Bottle to Let you know that I have'nt Forgotten what the Old place is like your Loving BRo Vince'.
History / Summary
Map of Australia cut out of a German aluminium water bottle. The map has a message engraved upon it by a soldier of 5 Australian Infantry Brigade to his sister. 5 Brigade was composed of 17, 18, 19 and 20 Battalions, all raised in New South Wales.
