Description
Section of propeller blade from the Fokker Dr 1 aircraft flown by the German ace Baron von Richthofen. 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 5/8" thick. Commonwealth Scientific Industrial and Research Organisation examination in 1995 found that this piece is made of laminations of mahogany and birch.
History / Summary
Another fragment in the Memorial's collection, REL/03146.001, retains a portion of the maker's decal, showing the propeller to have been made by Axial.
