German Model 1916 steel helmet
Description
German Model 1916 steel helmet. The helmet is painted field grey. The liner, pads, leather headband, metal liner band and rivets are missing. A pair of ventilating lugs on either side of the helmet also provide the mounting points for the seldom-used detachable frontal brow plate (not present). Handwriting in ink on the interior of the rear apron possibly reads, 'RACH CO 2/468'.
History / Summary
Unknown, but the marking on the apron suggests owner may have been a member of 2 Company, 468th Infantry Regiment.
