Description

German Army field artillery officer's M.1915 Pattern field grey Waffenrock jacket. This single breasted jacket has a stand and fall collar that has black edging but is otherwise plain. The front opening has scarlet edging, and is secured by eight cuprous alloy buttons that bear the Prussian Crown. A pocket with a flap that slopes downward from the front to the back, has been let into the jacket on both hips. Black edging has been applied to the top of the two-button Swedish cuffs. The silver bullion braid shoulder straps have an interwoven black thread, which indicates the wearer was in a Prussian unit, and rank insignia of leutnant (lieutenant). A small gilt brass flaming grenade badge of the type worn by field artillery units, and regimental number '4' are also fitted to both of the shoulder straps. The shoulder straps have red edging, which is the corps colour. The skirts at the back of the jacket are 'slashed', with scarlet trim, and six buttons. An individual black and white ribbon bar for the Iron Cross is sewn to the left front panel of the jacket. The maker's embroidered label is sewn inside the top of the back of the jacket, which is lined with a shiny light brown cotton twill fabric. The sleeves are lined with blue and yellow striped polished cotton.
