Next of Kin plaque : Private C J Crook, 19 Battalion, AIF
Description
Next of kin plaque with an image of Britannia and a lion together with the words 'HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR'. The name of the dead soldier 'CECIL JAMES CROOK' is embossed within a raised rectangle. The plaque is kept in its original carboard case.
History / Summary
Sent to the family of 4562 Private Cecil James Crook, a miner from Adamstown, New South Wales. Crook enlisted on 10 November 1915 and served with 19 Battalion. He died of wounds on 4 October 1918 and is buried in Tincourt New British Cemetery, France. Two of Crook's brothers, 45 Pte Daniel Crook of 35 Battalion and 58681 Pte Albert Thomas of 5 Division Training, also served in the AIF and returned to Australia in 1919.
