Description

Pair of printed fabric sleeve badges for 28 Commonwealth Brigade, in the form of a square divided horizontally light blue over dark blue. Superimposed on the upper half is a Queen's Crown in red, yellow and white, while the lower half contains the word 'COMMONWEALTH' on a white curved background. The badges have been machine stitched to jungle green cotton backings, each of which has four male press-stud fasteners sewn to the corners. One badge is more faded and discoloured than the other.

History / Summary

Associated with the service of 235080 Robert John Fletcher. Bob Fletcher was born in Cowra in 1932, and entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon in February 1951. He graduated in December 1954, and served with 2 RAR in Malaya between 1955 and 1957 commanding rifle and mortar platoons. 28 Commonwealth Brigade was in overall command of Australian Army units operating in Malaya. One Australian infantry battalion (Royal Australian Regiment) was normally attached to this force, together with British and New Zealand units for a tour of duty.
