Engraved aluminium photograph frame made from part of a crashed German aircraft
Description
Aluminium photograph frame made from part of a crashed German aircraft, showing rising sun, a koala clinging to the staff of an Australian flag, and 'AUSTRALIA FOR EVER!'
History / Summary
The design of the frame is based on a popular Australian Comforts Fund postcard of the first World War. The frame is thought to have contained a photo of a member of either the Davies or Della family of Victoria. It was handed down through the Davies family to Colonel O'Day's mother (nee Davies). She gave it to him in 1942, on his return from the Middle East.
