Description
Female Relative badge. Circular badge with a wreath surmounted by a King's Crown. Inside is a map of Australian surrounded by another wreath and the words 'TO THE WOMEN OF AUSTRALIA'. A bar with two stars is suspended from the main body. The stars represent the number of relatives involved in the war effort. The reverse is impressed with the serial number'60396' and the maker's details.
History / Summary
Worn by Mrs Eliza Bruce, mother of NX29690 Gunner Leonard Leslie Bruce who was killed in action on 23 January 1942 whilst serving in Malaya with 2/15 Australian Field Regiment. The second star on the badge may relate to Gordon, another son of Mrs Bruce.
