Description

Royal Air Force 1940 Pattern pair of issue mid-calf length brown suede flying boots with sheepskin lining. Front zip fastenings run from above the ankle to the top of the boots. The left hand zip is broken and has a different fastening tab to the right. A 3.5 cm strip of perished reddish rubber waterproofing around the sole, rising to 5.5 cm at the heel, protects the suede from moisture. Leather tongues stitched inside the zips are embossed with the King's Crown, and with the characters 'AM 1941 STORES 3815/C37B. CJC 9 B54208'. The boots have been re-soled, the most recent layer being black rubber 'SAVEX STICK-ON-SOLES' which are marked 'MADE IN ENGLAND' and 'MENS 10-11 MEDIUM'.
