Identity Bracelet : Lieutenant S Diamond, 60 Battalion, AIF
Description
Oval EPNS custom made identity disc attached to a link chain bracelet with quick release hook . The disc is engraved 'LT. S. DIAMOND 60TH BATT. A.I.F.'. The reverse of the disc is impressed 'EPNS'.
History / Summary
Born in England in 1893, Sidney Diamond, a piano tuner, enlisted with 6 Battalion AIF on 17 August 1914. As Private, 926, he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his actions at the landing on Gallipoli in 1915 'For conspicuous gallantry and ability'. After service on Gallipoli Diamond was commissioned and subsequently served on the Western Front with 59 and 60 Battalions. Lieutenant Diamond was discharged from service in England on 18 February 1919.
