Cigarette lighter : Gunner E V MacKellar, 8 Field Artillery Brigade, AIF
Description
Brass plated circular cigarette lighter with textured finish. It is embossed on one side with '1918' and on the other 'Somme'. The top of the lighter has a flint wheel for ignition and a small valve for filling the lighter.
History / Summary
Associated with the service of 26363 Gunner Edward Vaughn MacKellar of 8 Field Artillery Brigade, AIF. MacKellar, a native of Sydney, New South Wales, enlisted in the AIF on 18 April 1916 and served on the Western Front. He embarked for return to Australia on 4 June 1919.
