Identity disc : Corporal E V Quirk, 7 Battalion, AIF
Description
Privately made engraved silver identity disc attached to a length of brown leather cord. A small piece of wire is looped and fastened around the 4 mm mounting hole. The front of the disc is engraved '4277 V QUIRK/ 7th Batt. 2nd Inf Bde/ A.I.F./ R.C'. In between the name and the service number is a word that has been scratched out and is indecipherable.
History / Summary
Associated with the service of 4277 Corporal Edward Valentine Quirk who served in 7 Battalion, AIF, during the First World War. Quirk was born in 1892. A labourer from Richmond, Victoria, at the time of enlistment, on 3 August, 1915. He sailed for France on the troopship A64 'Demosthenes' on 29 December, 1915. He returned to Australia on 6 November 1918.
