History / Summary
According to Stoker Robert Pearce of the Royal Navy, this painting was taken by an Australian soldier from a Japanese office in Changi prison camp after the end of the war. The Australian gave the painting to Pearce who was a crewmember of HMS Loch Katrine, the ship transporting this group of prisoners home to Australia.
