Lightweight sleeping bag and blanket : Major B Alabaster, Australian Citizen's Military Force
Description
Green nylon lightweight sleeping bag with woollen blanket attached to the inside with press studs. The sleeping bag has a 3/4 opening fastened by four press studs. The are three small holes near the bottom of the bag. A makers label on the sleeping bag reads 'CONLONS AUSTRALIA 1969 (broad arrow) 7210/66/0115816', and on the blanket 'C.G.C.F. AUSTRALIA 1961 SIZE D (broad arrow) D 7210 66-011-5817'.
History / Summary
Used by Brian Alabaster during his service with the Australian Citizen's Military Force during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1964 Alabaster enlisted as a private in 3 Battalion. He later served with the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and was discharged in 1982 with the rank of major.
