Description

Original mounting board and paper containing 24 large size (24mm diameter) Australian Commonwealth buttons. All the buttons are identical and unissued and have the British Monarch, Edward VII's royal cypher under a king's crown, and the words 'AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH' around the bottom edge. The reverse has stamped 'ANDERSON SYDNEY BRITISH MAKE'.

History / Summary

These buttons were made for the first Australian Military Forces created after Federation in 1901. The buttons were issued from 1903 until the change in Monarch with the death of Edward VII on 6 May 1910.
