Identity bracelet : Private C R Tilburn, Australian Army Medical Corps, AIF
Oval silver identity disc attached to a link chain bracelet with quick release hook . The disc is engraved '4498 C.R. TILBURN A.A.M.C. A.I.F.'. The reverse of the disc is impressed with a maker's mark and hallmarks indicating that this piece was made in London in 1917.
Worn by 4498 Private C R Tilburn, Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC), AIF. Born in Sydney in 1894, Cuthbert Reginald Tilburn was working as a warehouseman when he enlisted in the AIF in April 1915. 4498 Private Tilburn embarked aboard RMS Mooltan at Sydney on 15 May 1915 with 3 Australian General Hospital (AGH), AAMC. Private Tilburn served with the AAMC throughout the war. In 1919 he was detached to AIF Headquarters and returned to Australia aboard HMAT Ceramic in October of that year. Mr Tilburn died in 1970.
